For Future CTP Participants

The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Compliance Testing Program (CTP) initially evaluates three types of products for certification and compliance to NIJ standards:

Products undergo an initial evaluation (or initial type testing) to ensure that a product meets minimum performance requirements for criminal justice practitioners and performs as expected. Once a product receives an NIJ Notice of Compliance, the product is added to the NIJ Compliant Product List.

After initial evaluation, the NIJ CTP also surveils manufacturers through the Follow-Up Inspection and Testing (FIT) program. The FIT program continues to inspect products after they have been certified by the CTP.
